I thoroughly enjoy the rich interplay of yellows afforded by painting lemons from life in natural light.

In the cold northern winter light, like here, they nearly transmute into blues and violets in the lightest lights, with a golden warmth of ochres in the deepest shadows.

They are all similar, essentially the same fruit, yet each has its own individuality; and they both merge into a single unified color area, yet create subtle nuances on the edges, reflecting light onto one another.
